Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Application Scientist with expertise in mass spectrometry to join our small, dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing Verdel’s scientific and commercial objectives by leading projects designed to demonstrate the power and relevance of Verdel’s unique TOC-MS technology.

As a Senior Application Scientist, you will provide a vital interface between our R&D and Commercial Development functions, assisting in all aspects of product delivery. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to provide critical insight and leadership to technical and application development. This will require a good understanding of the workings of a mass spectrometer and deep knowledge of the field of mass spectrometry in complex samples. As well as assisting in market discovery and developing novel applications in different market spaces you will work with our multi-dimensional data sets to develop meaningful statistical insights to complex samples.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Method Development and Optimization:
* Lead the development and optimisation of TOC-MS methods across diverse application areas for complex samples.
* Provide input to market strategy and commercial development processes through clear insight into key points of difference (TOC-MS vs other MS techniques) and realistic forecasts of analytical capability during instrument development cycles.
* Inspire confidence through a deep understanding of the latest advancements in mass spectrometry technology and methodologies.

2. Technical Leadership:
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external collaborators.
* Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the professional development of the team.

3. Collaboration:
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and execute experiments, troubleshoot issues, and analyze data.
* Work closely with R&D, product development, and other departments to integrate mass spectrometry techniques into product offerings.

4. Customer Support:
* Work closely with customers and potential customers to understand their specific mass spectrometry application needs.
* Provide technical support, including troubleshooting and training, to customers as needed.

5. Data Analysis and Interpretation:
* Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data to draw meaningful conclusions.
* Contribute to the development of software tools for data analysis and interpretation.

Qualifications:
* Ph.D. (or relevant experience) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in mass spectrometry, with a focus on method development.
 Proven track record of successful collaboration and leadership in a scientific setting.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Skills: * In-depth knowledge of mass spectrometry techniques and instrumentation.
* Proficient in data analysis software and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Stata).
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
