The vitamin D and steroid metabolism mass spectrometry groups are recruiting Postdoctoral Research Scientists and a Laboratory Manager to design and conduct research projects in our recently established analytical chemistry translational endocrinology laboratory.
The Medical Research Council Laboratory of Medical Science is a world leading multidisciplinary center where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. The groups’ research is aimed at understanding the metabolism and function of steroid and vitamin D hormones using mass spectrometry.
Current areas of research include liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method developments for high-throughput quantitation in order to establish novel clinical and diagnostic applications. We are using this technology for translational research in the analysis of human observational and clinical cohorts to define steroid and vitamin D metabolism in the circulation, excretion and localised tissues, and to characterise the role of this metabolism in human physiology and health.
The Postdoctoral Research Scientists will design and develop analytical methods and research projects, and train junior laboratory researchers. The Laboratory Manager will manage the overall operation and function of the groups research.
