We are looking for a post-doctoral scientist with significant experience in mass-spectrometry and expertise in MS proteomics to deliver this research project. The successful individual will establish novel methods & workflows, utilising the cutting-edge technology platforms available at MDC, and will apply them in collaborative projects to address biological questions and further LifeArc’s portfolio of drug discovery projects.
Main duties and responsibilities -Establish novel biological mass spectrometry workflows in cells and tissues, through de novo method development and adaptation of existing Catapult protocols.
-Apply these methods in target engagement, target validation and mechanism-of-action studies focussed on LifeArc projects and lead molecules.
-Deliver targeted and untargeted mass spectrometry studies to measure proximal and global changes in response to drug treatment.
-Analyse target protein expression and elucidate the target protein complex, for example through application of immunoprecipitation methods to pull down target proteins.
-Apply pre-commercial mass-spectrometry technologies available at MDC (e.g. acoustic mist ionisation mass-spectrometry) to develop novel protocols that can be applied to medicines discovery.
-Deliver high quality data in a complex and time pressured research team environment -Implement effective lab processes, experimental records and safety.
-Demonstrate effective communication and research collaboration skills, working routinely with colleagues across both the Catapult and LifeArc organisations.
-Communicate results, through publication and external presentation.
Qualifications and Experience -The successful candidates will possess a PhD and preferably post-doctoral experience, working with mass spectrometry in a bioscience or medicines discovery environment -Proven expertise in biological mass-spectrometry, including mass-spec proteomics, demonstrated by a track record of delivery and a strong publication record -Experience of working with nano-HPLC and high-resolution mass-spectrometry -Track record of establishing novel methods and workflows -Experience in data analysis, handling and interpretation -Experience in cell culture -Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a highly collaborative and inter-disciplinary environment
