The BMSS has a fund which is dedicated to assisting researchers with the purchase of equipment or software to support their work. Applications to this fund are welcomed at any time. Awards are normally limited to £5000 and preference is given to applicants who demonstrate a serious need for BMSS support.

A 2 page case for support outlining the need for the requested equipment is required. The applicant, who must be a BMSS member of at least 3 months standing,  should describe the research activity that will be enabled by this award and also provide evidence of any supplementary funding that they have available to purchase the item..

For most successful application the BMSS will provide 50% of the total funds required, up to the limit of £5000. If possible, applications should be accompanied by a quotation for the item in question.  Applications are assessed by the BMSS Advisory Board. If successful the BMSS must be acknowledged in all publications and presentations that have been enabled by the award.
