The food and nutrition special interest group holds a one day meeting every two years on applications of mass spectrometry in food and nutrition science in addition to special sessions at the BMSS 3-day conference. Topics include food safety, analysis of compounds of nutritional and toxicological interest and biologically-active components, food flavourings and taints, quality control, authenticity and traceability, metabolomics and other food related topics. Meetings and sessions focus on practical applications and new developments.

The major goal of the group is to demonstrate and promote the broad range of mass spectrometric techniques in use for the analysis of food
