The application of high throughput mass spectrometry enables key decisions to be made in increasingly quicker times. Some high-throughput MS systems are highly automated and address all steps of analysis, including sample preparation, data acquisition, data analysis, and generation of databases and knowledge management. Applying high-throughput MS often requires a fundamental understanding of all these processes and prosecuting novel approaches to tie them together without forming new bottlenecks.
